ABC Radio – Cervical Cancer Screening News Item

ABC Radio this week featured an item on Cervical Cancer screening in the Pacific.

It centered on the self-testing approach and highlighted the fact that each test costs approximately US$17.

As part of the PICCSI (Pacific Island Cervical Cancer Screening Initiative) Pilot Program, this test (and treatment!) is being provided free of charge to women in Fiji.

Human papilloma virus is the major cause of Cervical Cancer and vaccination programs are yet to be implemented in the Pacific Island nations.

The PICCSI project is scheduled to run for the first time in August 2018, but needs help from donors to fund its spread across the Pacific.

Listen to the news item on ABC’s Pacifc Beat program and support PICCSI by making a tax deductible donation or attending our Ocean’s 8 movie fundraiser.
